Seoul, Korea finds themselves back in the Pony-13
Championship Game with their _-_ victory over San Cristobal, Dominican
Republic. Seoul has only allowed three runs in their entire Pony-13 World
Series and will now take on a gritty Placentia, California squad for the title.
Seoul scored the first run of the game when T.K. Yeo singled
and gave J.W. Moon the opportunity to round the bases from first and score in
the third inning. Moon’s run was the only scored in the inning and Seoul
entered the fourth with a 1-0 lead.
Seoul finally scored again in the fifth inning after J. Kim tagged up for a
run. They added one more run after Yeo singled and brought home D.H. Jeong.
Jeong’s score made it a 3-0 ballgame.
San Cristobal did their best to try to stay in the game.
They got themselves on the board in the sixth inning when Joel Nova crossed
home uncontested on a groundout.
Seoul wouldn’t let San Cristobal get on the board without answering themselves.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, S. Lee tripled, scoring S.J. Park with it. S.
Lee scored later in the inning as a result of a San Cristobal error, making it
a 5-1 game in favor of Seoul.
T.K. Yeo led the way with his bat for Seoul. Yeo hit 2-for-3
with two RBIs in the win over San Cristobal.
Seoul now moves on to face Placentia, California in the Pony-13 World Series
Championship Game Monday, July 30 at York Field in Whittier, California. Seoul
will look to win back-to-back Pony-13 World Series championships. They beat
Johnstown, Pennsylvania in last year’s big match.
This year, Seoul will have to face a battle-tested and gritty Placentia squad.
It’ll be interested to see who comes out on top in the championship game.
