Championship

Monterrey, Mexico - 5, Bel Passi - 1

Monterrey, MX defeated Bel Passi, CA by a score of 5-1, winning the 2023 Pony-13 World Series!

Octavio Reyna helped lead Monterrey with his dominant day on the mound. Reyna struck out twelve Bel Passi batters, surrendering just four hits and allowing no runs in his six and two-thirds performance. Monterrey got on the board first wit a  run scored in the second. Luciano Bellazetin added to Monterrey's lead by stealing home, making a 2-0 game. Bellazetin led the day for Monterrey at the plate with two hits in 4 at-bats.

For Bel Passi on the mound, Roman Hinojosa started the game giving up three hits and three runs over four innings with seven strikeouts. At the plate Bel Passi collected four hits on the day with Brody Abbott, Hinojosa, Sebastian Joseph, and Andres Roberts collecting a hit each.

Monterrey finished off the 2023 Pony-13 World Series with an undefeated record, winning all four of their games. They allowed 1 or less runs in three of their games played. 

Game Twelve

Sylmar, California - 1, Bel Passi, California - 7

Sylmar, CA was defeated by Bel Passi, CA, 1-7 in Game Twelve of the 2023 Pony-13 World Series, led by Morgun Brandon and Brody Abbott, who drove in two runs each in the fourth inning. 

Cole Bargagilotti started on the mound for Bel Passi, allowing four hits, one run with nine strikeouts in the complete game performance. Jordan Gonzalez started for Sylmar, allowing nine hits, seven runs with three strikeouts in four inning on the bump. 

Bel Passi totaled ten hits in the game, with Roman Hinojosa leading the team three hits in four at bats. Abbott, Brandon, Joseph, and Hinojosa each drove in one run for Bel Passi. Gonzalez led Sylmar with two hits in just three at bats, Jacob Caldrea leading Bel Passi the lone RBI.

Bel Passi will move on to play in the 2023 Pony-13 World Series Championship Game against Monterrey, Mexico. Both teams come in with an undefeated 3-win record and will play at 6:00pm tonight. As for Sylmar they have been eliminated from this year's Pony-13 World Series with an even 2-2 record.

Game Eleven

Guaynabo, Puerto Rico - 4, Monterrey, Mexico - 5

Guaynabo, PR was defeated by Monterrey, MX by a score of 4-5 in Game Eleven of the 2023 Pony-13 World Series. This was the second matchup between the two this World Series, Monterrey taking home the win in each contest.

Monterrey started off with three runs in the first inning courtesy of Gael Martinez, Reynold Villarreal, and Caesar Valverde being responsible for the scores. Monterrey added to their lead in the third off a Villarreal double, making the score 4-2. Dylan Alvarado helped Guaynabo stay in the game after tagging up for a run in the top of the seventh. Monterrey would go on to win in walk-off fashion after Mauricio Martinez drew a walk

On the mound,  Luis Tristan started for Monterrey, allowing six hits, four runs and striking out four in a complete game performance. Carlos Maldonado made the start for Guaynabo, having four hits and four runs allowed, striking out just one batter though three innings pitched.

Villarreal, Martinez, and Francisco del Campo each collected two hits in the win for Monterrey, with Villarreal leading in RBI's with two.  Overall, Monterrey drew 10 walks on the day. Alan Agosto and Jose Rivera collected two hits each for Guaynabo.

Monterrey moves on the 2023 Pony-13 World Series Championship game tomorrow at 6:00pm.

Game Ten

Sylmar, California - 5, Sydney, Australia - 0

Sylmar, CA defeats Sydney, AU in Game Ten of the 2023 Pony-13 World Series; advancing Sylmar to Game Twelve in a rematch game with Bel Passi, CA. Sydney loses their second game of the World Series, eliminating them. 

On the mound, we saw a match up between Tyler Brown,(Sydney) and Enriquez Macias(Sylmar). Brown surrendered four hits, one run and struck out five in four innings pitched. Macias pitched a complete game, 1-hit shutout for Sylmar. Sydney's lone hit came from the bat of Lachlan Meehan.

Sylmar totaled eleven hits on the day with Carlos Acuna and Noah Flores each collected three hits, Flores leading his team two RBI's. The first baseman went three for four on the day. 

Sylmar will move onto Game Twelve tonight at 7:00pm against Bel Passi, CA. Sylmar played Bel Passi previously in Game Eight of this year's Pony-13 World Series

Game Nine

Johnstown, Pennsylvania - 3, Guaynabo, Puerto Rico - 6

Johnstown, PA was defeated by Guaynabo, PR in Game Nine of the 2023 Pony-13 World Series, eliminating Johnstown from the World Series. Johnstown finishes play with a 1-2 record, their lone win coming from a 7-2 outing against Covina, California.

Johnstown, PA had an early 1-0 lead in the first inning after a Reed Conn single drove in a run. Johnstown added to their lead in the third with a homerun to right field by John Brouse, who would finish the day with two hits though three at-bats. Guaynabo took a 5-3 lead in the fifth inning after Jean Medina, Alan Agosto, and Carlos Maldonado brought in one run each.

On the mound, Colin Dunn started for Johnstown, allowing eight hits, five runs, and striking out 7 through four and two-thirds innings pitched. Medina started the day for Guaynabo, allowing seven hits, three runs, and striking out five batters through a complete game pitched.

Guaynabo was led by Agosto at the plate, going three for four, Wildemar Sostre and Jose Rivera each had a multi-hit game as well. Guaynabo totaled eight stolen bases and committed no errors in the game.

Guaynabo moves on to Game Eleven at 4:00pm in a first round rematch against Monterrey, Mexico.

Game Eight

Bel Passi, California - 10, Sylmar, California - 0

Bel Passi, CA defeated Sylmar, CA 10-2, with an early three-run lead in the first inning.

Bel Passi scored five runs on four hits in the top of the second, with Gideon Mayo, Morgun Brandon, Brody Abbot and Sebastian Joseph bringing in runs. Abbot led Bel Passi in RBI's with three and a run scored as well. Bel Passi jumped out to a 9-0 lead with a Brandon RBI single.

One the mound, Carlos Acuna started the day for Sylmar, allowing three hits, three runs with one strikeout in one inning pitched. Noah Flores would come in for relief for Sylmar, giving up six hits, three runs with one strikeout and four walks. Brody Carabello started the day on the mound for Bel Passi, allowing three hits, no runs and struck out three Sylmar batters.

For Sylmar, Acuna, Anthony Castro Jr. and Ernesto Robles contributed one hit each. For Bel Passi, they had 11 hits on the day, with Brandon, Hinojosa, Joseph, an d Mayo collecting two hits each. Abbott and Brandon drove in three each.

Bel Passi will move on to play in Game  Twelve against the winner of Game Ten between Sylmar, CA and Sydney, Australia. That game will start off at 1:00pm.

Game Seven

Johnstown, Pennsylvania - 0 v. Monterrey, Mexico - 10

Johnstown, PA fell to Monterrey, MX by a score of 0-10, with an early lead by Monterrey.

Monterrey started the game off early with a first inning score courtesy of Gael Martinez driving in two runs. Monterrey added to their lead in the third with a Luciano Bellazetin triple bringing in two runs. 

On the mound, Miguel Orozco started off the day for Monterrey surrendering one hit with zero allowed. Orozco struck seven Johnstown batters. Dylan Wyandt led off the day for Johnstown giving up one hit and two runs over one and two-thirds of an inning pitched.

For Monterrey, Martinez went 2-for-3 and lead his team in hits. Monterrey totaled six walks at the plate with eight hits. Wyandt was the leader for Johnstown with one hit in two at bats

Johnstown will play tomorrow in Game Nine against Guaynabo, Puerto Rico in a survival game. As for Monterrey they move to Game Eleven tomorrow at 4:00pm

Game Six

Sydney, Australia - 10, Houston, Texas - 6

Sydney, Australia defeated Houston, Texas by a score of 10-6. Sydney had an early 1-0 start after a Ayden Hamilton single. Houston would strike back in the third with Blake Blankenship and Owen Zuteck driving a run each. 

Sydney would take the lead back in their half of the sixth inning  with a Houston error allowing two runs to score, giving Sydney a 4-2 lead. Sydney scored six runs off seven hits in their half of the seventh inning with Beau Stockdale, Hamilton, Ethan Bradey, Jack Hanretty, Ashton Williams, and Tyler Brown each driving in one run.

On the mound, Hobbs started off the day surrendering four hits, two runs, one walk, with four strikeouts during four innings. Tyler Okelrug started for Houston, allowing four hits, two runs with two strikeouts in four innings.  Brown would appear in relief for Sydney.

Sydney totaled 15 hits, 10 runs, and errors on the day. Houston had a total of seven hits, six runs, and allowing one error

Sydney will move on to Game Ten tomorrow at 1:00pm against the loser of Game 8 between Bel Passi, CA and Sylmar, CA. Houston is eliminated from the 2023 Pony-13 World Series.

Game Five

Covina, CA - 8, Guaynabo, PR - 17

Guaynabo, Puerto Rico defeated Covina, California by a score of 17-8 in Game Five of the 2023 Pony-13 World Series.

Guaynabo started off hot with nine runs scored in the second inning with Jean Rodriguez bringing in two runs off a double followed by a Alan Agosto double that also brought in two runs. Jose Rivera was a major contributor in the inning, hitting a three-run bomb in the inning.

Akilis Cruz started the day on the mound for Guaynabo, allowing no hits or runs in two innings pitched along with three strikeouts.  Jean Medina came in for one relief inning with no runs given up. 

Guaynabo totaled 17 hits, seven walks and nine stolen bases offensively. They also gave up no errors while fielding.

For Covina, Isiah Montes and Jayden Pinzon led the way, driving in two runs each. Covina had nine walks and eight hits on the day.

Guaynabo will move on to play in Game Nine tomorrow at 10:00am against the loser of Game Seven between Johnstown, PA and Monterrey, MX. As for Covina, they have been eliminated from the 2023 Pony-13 World Series

Game Four

Sydney, AU - 5, Bel Passi, CA - 15

Bel Passi, California scored seven runs in the third inning, helping them get the win over Sydney, Australia with a final score of 5 - 15.  Bel Passi jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning with a run scored off a Sydney error and a Matteo Gonzalez double that drove in two runs

In the top of the third inning, Sydney came back in the lead after back to back walks to Hunter Lennox and Luke Hobbs. Jack Hanretty also gained a free base after being struck by a pitch. The bleeding didn't stop there for Bel Passi as they allowed two errors that scored a run each. Bel Passi added three more runs in their half of the fifth inning with five hits. Preston Hillis bringing in one run off a single, and Roman Hinojosa with a 2 run bomb to center. 

Sebastian Joseph started on the mound for Bel Passi, allowing one hit, no runs, two strikeouts through one and two-thirds of an inning pitched. For Sydney, Lachlan Meehan started on the mound, the righty allowed six hits, seven runs, no strikeouts, and three walks through two and a third innings pitched.

Bel Passi had a total of 14 hits in the game with Brandon, Abbot, Joseph, Gonzalez, Mayo, Hillis, and Hinojosa collecting two hits each, with each being responsible for two runs except for Joseph. Joseph and Mayo each stole multiple bases, with Bel Passi having a total of 10 stolen bases in the contest. 

Meehan and Beau Stockdale each had one hit for Sydney, Hanretty and Lennox drove in one run each.

Sydney will go on to play Houston, Texas in Game Six at 1:00pm, and Bel Passi will play fellow California team, Sylmar in Game Eight at 7:00pm

Game Three

Guaynabo, PR - 1, Monterrey, MX - 13

 

Game Two

Sylamar, Ca - 14 v. Houston, TX - 2

Jordan Gonzalez drove in six runs with three hits to help Sylmar, CA over Houston, TX 14-2. Gonzalez had two singles and a double on the day going three for four. 

Sylmar got on the board early  with Carlos Acuna, Jordan Gonzalez, Ernesto Robles, and Noah Flores being responsible for 5 runs total in the top of the first inning. Sylmar added on to their lead in the second after a Gonzalez double scored one run with another coming after a Houston error.

Omar Pinon came in for 3 relief innings for Slymar allowing zero hits, zero runs, and striking out four. Maxx Enrique Macias started off the day on the mound for Sylmar. He allowed three hits, one run with 2 strikeouts during an inning pitched. For Houston, George Vernau started the day on the mound, giving 5 hits and five runs with no walks or strikeouts over a third of an inning pitched.

Sylmar totaled 15 hits on the day, with both Gonzalez and Robles had 3 hits. Sylmar had zero errors during the game.

Houston had Owen Zuteck, Ethan Dieter, Derek Nall, and Tyler Stroud be accountable for one hit each, Stroud and Balen Howard being responsible for Houston's runs.

Game One

Johnstown, Pa - 7 v Covina, CA - 2

In Game One of the 2023 Pony-13 World Series, Johnstown, PA defeated Covina, CA 7 to 2. 

Leading the way for Johnstown was Shortstop, Garret Reese with 3 hits for 5 at-bats, 1 run scored and 1 RBI.

Covina started the game strong with 2 runs in the bottom of the second inning with Matthew Pistonni and Angel Arellano scoring.

Johnstown responded back with 4 runs scored in the top half of the 3rd inning with scores from John Brouse, Reed Conn, Bryce Conn, and Dycen Wyandt.
Colin Dunn would go on to score with another run in the top of the 4th, and Garret Reese scoring his solo run of the day.

Garret Reese would go on in to bring in a RBI in the top of the Fifth inning after grounding out to shortstop Joan Flores.

Johnstown moves to 1-0 and will play tomorrow, Saturday July 20, in Game Seven at 4:00pm. Covina will play tomorrow in Game Five at 10:00am.
