Redondo Beach bounces back with day two win over San Diego

Robinson drove in two more runs in the top of the third, making the lead 6-0. San Diego got their bats going in their half of third to keep the game within striking distance.

Grant Yturralde came up to bat with the bases loaded, saw a pitch he liked, and crushed it to center field for double. Yturralde cleared the bases and San Diego cut their six-point deficit in half at 6-3.

Redondo Beach responded with a run in the top of the fourth, then San Diego got going again in the bottom of the fifth.

San Diego drew a couple of walks to start their half of the fifth. The third batter of the inning for San Diego struck out, but the next batter drew a walk as well and loaded the bases.

After a pop-out, Jacob Lanza came up to bat and was hit by a pitch. The pitch brought in San Diego’s fourth run of the game and the bases remained loaded for Jacob Polak.

Polak smacked a groundball passed the Redondo first baseman and Trevor Raybould came around to score, but runner behind him was caught out at home. San Diego exited the bottom half of the fifth after scoring a couple runs to itch closer to the Redondo lead.

The scoring stopped until the seventh inning. That’s when Matteo Simon hit a RBI single, and Nick Aguirre followed that up with a two RBI double to extend the Redondo lead to five at 10-5.

San Diego went on to load the bases in the bottom half of the seventh but weren't able to capitalize on the opportunity. Redondo Beach walked away with the five-point, 10-5 victory.
