Tijuana secures their second 2019 Pony-13 World Series win

Tijuana (Mexico) earned their second #P13WorldSeries win in a row Saturday at York Field in Whittier, California. Alejandro Trujillo went 3-for-3 with two RBIs and run scored to lead Tijuana to the victory over the South Zone’s Houston, TX team.

Trujillo got the scoring going for Tijuana early on in the first with a triple to center field. Trujillo’s triple brought home S Moreno from second and Tijuana went up 1-0.

The next run wasn’t scored until Houston’s C Rivera came up to bat in the third inning. Rivera singled to bring in R Rothermel, then an error on the play allowed Aiden Broussard to score as well.

Houston took the 2-1 lead after the third inning and their bats seemed to be ready to damage. Tijuana’s starting pitcher Daniel Llamas had his ground, though and didn’t give up a run in the following two innings he pitched.

Tijuana responded well to the two-run Houston inning. They followed it up with a two-run inning of their own, thanks to Trujillo and Llamas. Trujillo and Llamas came up with back-to-back RBI hiys in the third and put Tijuana up 3-1.

Llamas was replaced at the pitcher position in the sixth inning by Antuan Franco. Frnco finished the last two without giving up a single hit while striking out two batters.  Tijuana added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth to up their lead to two, and that’s where the scored remained.

Tijuana ended up winning the game with a score of 4-2. Trujillo accounted for three of the four runs scored by Tijuana, with two RBIs and a run scored in the ballgame against Houston.

Next up for Tijuana is the winner of Sunday’s game between Houston, TX (USA) and Hilo, HI (USA). Tijuana’s next game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. at York Field in Whittier, California.
